FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MICRO FOCUS LAUNCHES LEGACY-TO-WEB SOLUTION ENTERPRISELINK® WITH

—Latest version up to 25 times faster than traditional Java recoding;
now includes component reuse technology—

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 28, 2002 ¾ Micro Focus International Ltd. (Micro FocusÒ), a leading global enterprise development company for legacy systems, today launched its latest version of its highly-scalable legacy-to-Web transformation and integration solution, EnterpriseLink® Integration Server.  The product is available today from Micro Focus and its resellers and is deployable in UNIX and Windows environments to move business requirements to e-business, and understand and reuse legacy assets all in a low-risk, high-ROI environment.

 Also announced today was a partnership with wireless software provider Novarra that will allow users of EnterpriseLink Integration Server to access legacy assets remotely via handheld, cell phone or Internet-enabled pager.

"Our green-screen application was more than a decade old, and we were looking to simplify and modernize it quickly and cost-effectively," said John DeLoi, director of systems engineering at ABC-TV National TV Sales, Inc.  "Micro Focus helped us Web-enable our internal mainframe application with EnterpriseLink to give our sales executives the ability to track the status of customer contracts from input to completion via any Web browser."

EnterpriseLink with Component Generator enables companies to establish a browser-independent Web interface for “green screen” mainframe applications that is intuitive and

appropriate for the application’s use.  Companies can get their legacy applications up and running on the Web or other client/server platforms more quickly with EnterpriseLink than with competitive solutions or traditional recoding.  A study conducted by DePaul University in October 2001 showed that projects are completed up to 25 times faster using EnterpriseLink than with Java recoding.  In addition, transformation with EnterpriseLink exposes companies to less risk than changing a mainframe application directly, and is less expense than staff-heavy recoding operations.

“With our latest version of EnterpriseLink Integration Server, we are offering companies the lowest total cost of ownership of any legacy-to-Web solution,” said Mark Haynie, vice president of enterprise extension at Micro Focus.  “Our technology allows users to get their mission-critical legacy applications on the Web faster and easier than any other method, and can scale to meet the expanding needs of growing companies, a benefit not available with competing solutions.”

            With EnterpriseLink with Component Generator, companies now can:

·         Capture host screens and their relationships and quickly map these to new COM or Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) objects, Web pages or XML files;

·         Construct professional, dynamic Web pages using drag-and-drop assembly;

·         Create reusable components that can drive legacy systems from the Web;

·         Streamline or change processing by creating new workflows from existing applications without host changes;

·         Ensure optimal performance and 24/7 availability with load-balancing, fail-over support and non-hierarchical clustering, and;

·         Create re-usable components from CICS transactions for re-use in Java or XML applications.
