Micro Focus Announces EnterpriseLink 5.0 for Japan
Micro Focus announced EnterpriseLink 5.0 for the Japanese marketplace on April 24th, 2003 at a joint Micro Focus - Itochu Techno-Science Corporation (CTC) seminar in Tokyo. CTC is the primary distributor and value-add partner of Micro Focus in Japan. A localized-for-Japan release of EnterpriseLink has been available in Japan since 1997. Now, all of the features of the latest release of version 5.0 (announced in a press release September 30th, 2002) are available in a distribution package for the Japanese marketplace. The primary authoring tool, EnterpriseLink Builder, has been localized for Japanese as well as Spanish, Traditional Chinese and Simplified (Big5) Chinese forms making it easier for web designers to develop web-enabled legacy applications for any language.
In addition to localization, several new features are available in the latest release of EnterpriseLink 5.0. Among them are,
- Active Tracer and Debugger -- Allowing the EnterpriseLink author to trace his or her EnterpriseLink project as users access it. This is also available to a system administrator of a production system for extended diagnosis.
- Enhanced Session Control -- Another feature intended for an administrator of an EnterpriseLink site allows him or her to take over, view or disconnect production sessions as necessary.
- Apache SSL Integration -- IBM AIX or Sun Solaris customers of EnterpriseLink can now run the Apache HTTP Server with the mod_ssl support to ensure security of EnterpriseLink controlled data between the end-user's web browser and the EnterpriseLink Integration Server.
- CSS Support -- Direct support in EnterpriseLink Builder for Cascading Style Sheets, ensuring that projects are synchronized with a customer's static web site for look-and-feel.
Micro Focus has several Japanese customers of EnterpriseLink to date. Included in the Demonstration CD-ROM available to attendees of the seminar is a presentation of one such customer story from Sompo Japan Insurance. Sompo Japan uses EnterpriseLink to reach upwards of 80,000 insurance agents who write new business for the company. At its peak, the EnterpriseLink system manages 2000 concurrent sessions and 1.41 million transactions per day.
